Faintly of age in that corner, on that shelf
I cracked a spine once and it felt wrong
You open it every day, every day another page
And why but for that this is of what I’m fond
Pages of different stock, different textures
Rectangles and circles like the past come back
Glyphs all the way down one at a time
The opposite of shadows or the shadows cast
By words make images in your mind
